-----------------------------------------------Myth of Osiris & Quest of Isis-----------------------------------

When Osiris came to power on the Throne of Egypt, he found the people to be savage and brutish, fighting and killing one another.

While Isis, wife of Osiris, discovered the grain of wheat and barley, Osiris taught the people how to plant the seeds after the Nile had risen and sunk again, leaving fresh fertile soil. Osiris taught the people how to tend the crops and water them; how to cut the corn, how to thrash the grain, dry it, grind it to make flour and make bread. H showed them the way to plant vine and make wine out of grapes, as they had already known how to brew beer our of barley.

Osiris went on to teach the people law and to live peacefully and happily, enjoying music and poetry. Thus Egypt was filled with peace and plenty. And Osiris set off to bring the same blessings to other nations. His wife Isis ruled Egypt while he was away.

But Seth, their brother, envied Osiris and hated Isis. He planned to kill his brother and rule in his place. And when Osiris returned from his travels Seth held a large festive celebrations, and tricked Osiris into entering a beautifully crafted Chest decorated with cedar, ebony and ivory. Seth sealed the chest with molten lead and threw it in the river Nile, and Osiris the man died within it.

The chest was carried out to the Sea, and came to the shore of Phoenicia near the city of Byblos. Here it lodged into a tamarisk tree that grew around it completely. King Malcander heard of the beautiful tree, and made orders to cut it down and fashion a great pillar for his palace. No one knew that it held the body of Osiris.

Later, Isis searched and found the Pillar, and after time in the palace looking after the King’s children, procured the Pillar and took it on a barge back to Egypt. She had left it in the marshes, in order to go and check on her young son Horus, when Seth found the pillar and the Chest within it.. tore the body of Osiris into 14 pieces, and scattered them all over the banks of the Nil, hoping those pieces will be eaten by various crocodiles and other animals.

On her return, Isis discovered what had happened, and with the help of her sister Nephthys and Anubis, she found all but one piece of Osiris. His penis was missing. Isis rejoined the pieces of Osiris and also made a Penis – with the use of magic, and completed Osiris. She caused the body to be embalmed and hid it in a place only she knew. Now with the body whole, and rites completed, the spirit of Osiris passed into Amenti to rule over the dead. He stays there until the last great battle between his Son Horus and Seth, and it is said he will return to Earth once Seth has been defeated once and for all.

0._Thames_Isis_Rituals_2013_-Pagan_Frontiers_of_London_-medThames-Isis: Isidias Navigatum (Blessing of the Fleet) Ritual

We are preparing to explore the mysteries and magic of the Goddess Isis in a series of rituals to be held by the banks of river Thames in London. (Tamesis is an old name of river Thames, and supposedly means `Thames-Isis’).

Saturday 3rd March  2013:

Blessing of the Fleet Ceremony (Isidias Navigatum). Ritual outline (tbc): A statue of the Goddess will be carried to the water, where flowers-wreathed women may offer mirrors so that she may see her beauty. Priests will pour milk on the sands from a pitcher shaped like Isis's breast, then sprinkle the statue with precious perfumes. As the final part of the ritual, a small replica boat will be filled with spices and sent (out to sea) as an offering to the Goddess Isis.

Meet at Richmond Rail/ Tube station by 1.00pm. We'll walk up to nearby grounds by the riverside for social & Isis ceremony.

All Welcome to attend, to contact us and contribute with your creativity, knowledge & magic for these new explorations.

Submerging Sekhmet: A Ceremony for Protection of London.

Date: 7th July 2013

Few months ago, Caroline Wise shared a picture of a Sekhmet statue in Fellowship of Isis group ..and info about a Sekhmet statue that is supposedly submerged by Waterloo Bridge, protecting London. That has inspired this Ceremony.

We are (this week) collecting raw clay from the river Thames (Hammersmith area) and a small Sekhmet statue will be made, and left to air-dry naturally. On Sunday 7th July (evening) ..just prior to Sunset, and at low tide, we'll gather in Central London for a Ceremony, and then get down to the riverbanks to ritually submerge this Sekhmet statue.

Ceremony to be facilitated by Caroline Wise & members of Fellowship of Isis..

-Meeting will be by the Cleopatra's Needle, Embankment, at 7pm. This gives us plenty of time to meet & greet, and coordinate movements.

-We expect to perform A consecration ceremony by the Cleopatra's Needle, between the Obilisk and the 2 seated Sphinxes.

-Then we'll walk to the Southbank side of the river Thames (either via Waterloo bridge, or by the footbridges by Embankment) and get down closer to the base of Waterloo bride. Exact spot may vary, depending on access & privacy (there are 3 stairs access to the the sandy riverbanks..)

NOTE: The sandy/gravel area by the river is somewhat full of sharp objects, and stones. So extreme care is required if anyone is going to `wander and explore' . Thames water is not entirely safe for handling or ingesting. So if anyone does handle it, we suggest using anticeptic wet-wipes / hand-gels afterwards as an added safety.

Relevant data:

Sunset is about 9.17 pm (britsh summer time)

Lowest tide is 20:51pm (bst) at Tower Pier.

The following day (8th July'13) is a new moon in cancer (morning).

So the ceremony should be concluding by 9pm coincide with sunset, and it will be taking place at low tide (perfectly safe).

Birthday of Goddess Isis; A Celebration Ritual

birth of isis -a Celebration by river Thames in Londom. art (c) Mani Navasothy 2013-ad

17th July is celebrated as the Birthday of Isis (Night of the Cradle). It is when Sky Goddess Nut gives birth to Isis.

We are holding an open celebration ritual in Central London on 17th July 2013 to mark this sacred event. (part of the `Thames-Isis rituals 2013 by Tamesa London Circle).

Gather at Cleopatra's Needle, Victoria-Embankment at 7.00 pm on this day. The ceremony & social will take place at this location..which has the Obilisk that is over 2000 years old and has previous stood in Egypt, before being gifted to Great Britain in the 17th century.

Date: Wednesday 17thJu;y 2013
Time: Gather 7.00pm onwards (event ends by 8pm. we may stay and socialise afterwards).

venue: Cleopatra's needle, Victoria-Embankmeent (nearest tubes - Embankment.. 5 min walk).

Ceremony outline:

A decorative altar with Sky Goddess Nut and a concealed statue of Isis will be set up.

    Element consecrations (incense, lantern, salt/water).

Isis called by her many names! This will be a chant led by Mani and all repeat.

    Isis is revealed.

Milk & flower Ceremony - all bath statue in milk), followed by offering of flowers.

Food & drinks blessed and shared.

Collected Milk & flowers offered to river Thames

Tide & Safety:

At the time of this ritual, river Thames will be in high-tide. So we will NOT go down the shores. We will not use the steps by Cleopatra's needle as it will be very slippery. Organisers take no responsibility for anyone doing so!)

What to bring:

Food & drinks to share (remember it's a public place.. by the main road!).

As it is a public place, there will be other passers-by, who may take photos or watch. That is accepted by the organisers, in the spirit of celebrating the Birthday of Isis :-)

As we will be in a public place, and we will be seen as representing pagans / paganism, organisers ask all to be in good public behaviour. And not to get involved in other matters / conflicts which may disrupt the ritual. If our safety is deem to be at rik by circumstances, organisers will request all paryticipating to move to another locatuon on the evening.. (just follow Mani's lead!)
